This specification establishes the requirements for copper-tin alloy (phosphor bronze), copper-tin-lead alloy (leaded phosphor bronze), and copper-tin-lead-zinc alloy (bearing bronze), plate, sheet, strip, and rolled bar. The phosphor bronzes commonly are used for deep drawing into bellows and stamping and forming into spring devices and into terminals and connectors for electrical apparatus because they combine high strength with high elongation. The leaded phosphor bronzes are used where strength, corrosion resistance, and machinability are required. The bearing bronze is used in bushings, bearings, and load-bearing thrust washers. The following alloys are covered: C51000, C51100, C51180, 51900, 52100, 52180, 52400, 53400, 54400.

 

C51180
Phosphor bronze is a member of copper alloy family. It contains tin, phosphorus, and copper. It is a special valuable metal with many positive properties. Here are the properties and characteristics that make phosphor bronze alloy, useful in many applications. Phosphoric copper has excellent spring quality, high fatigue strength, excellent formability and weldability, and high corrosion resistance. They are mainly used for electrical products, other applications include anti-corrosion bellows, diaphragms, and spring washers. These alloys are characterized by toughness, toughness, low friction and fine grains. Phosphorous enhanced the corrosion resistant property and strength of the alloy. It also increase the stiffness and wear resistance of the copper alloy.

Anode casting wheel
The refined blister copper is poured into casting molds lined up side by side on the revolving circular table of a casting wheel and cast into anode plates for electrolytic refining. The anode plates are approximately 1m x 1m x 0.05m in size and weigh 380 kg per plate.

Refinery
Anode plates and stainless steel cathode plates are alternately set into the electrorefining cell, where a proper level of DC current is supplied. Dissolved copper from the anode is electrolytically deposited on the stainless steel cathode plate. After about 10 days of electrolysis, the cathode is lifted out and stripped from the stainless steel plate, resulting in the completion of refined copper (with a grade of 99.99%) as a final product. The refined copper is shipped in stacked bulks, which are 1m in length and width and approximately 80kg in weight.
